Black Pearl reroute to Ari atoll due to poor current conditions.
We jumped to Guraidhoo Corner this morning for the first dive. With almost no current the dive began from the outer reef close to the channel entrance.
Once we passed the corner, before entering the channel we noticed that the current was flowing out and we had to change the direction and continue the dive and finally finishing at the outer reef. Near the corner we saw few gray reef, white tip reef sharks and couple of eagle rays.
Taking current as a factor we decided to do one more dive to south Male’ atoll before sailing to Vaavu atoll just to make sure we would be able to get the right current at the channels.
Kandooma Thila second dive; with a mild out going current we began the dive from the Jacks Corner.

Jack’s Corner; is the name given to the west tip / edge of Kandooma Thila where schooling jack’s congregate when the current flows out. This is the jump point when the current runs out and it’s worth checking it out before drifting further in.
After the dive we debriefed the group about the current and explained it’s no use in going to Vaavu and do all the channels with outgoing current, instead agreed to go to Ari atoll where there is diversity of dive sites.
Kahanbu Thila; a tiny pinnacle not far from Velamendhoo Island is thila where you can have a nice and quite late afternoon dive and still enjoys a good fish life.
Our final anchorage is Dhangethi lagoon and after returning back from the dive clients made al short Local Island visit.
