The New 7 Wonders is a foundation currently working on a list of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World which will be decided in 2011. There are 28 finalists, including the Maldives. The Maldives is currently ranked number 14 in the list.
The Original 7 Ancient Wonders of the World
The 7 Ancient Wonders of the World are a list of remarkable man-made creations around the world. It is based on guidebooks popular at the time and includes attractions located in Europe. The list was decided to include 7 items as the Greeks believed the number seven to be a representation of “perfection and plenty”.

The New 7 Manmade Wonders of the World
The new 7 Wonders of the World were announced on July 7, 2007, after a worldwide poll, organised by the New7Wonders Foundation. Over 100 million votes were cast around the world, and the winners were announced in Lisbon, Portugal. The New 7 Man-madeWonders of the World are as follows:

- The Great Wall of China

The New7Wonders Foundation is now working on a new list of 7 Natural Wonders of the World. From an initial list of hundreds of amazing locations around the world, there is now a list of 28 places, from which the 7 Natural Wonders will be selected.
